City Harvest helped start the food rescue movement in 1982 when a group of New Yorkers saw that New York City had an abundance of excess food even while a large number of its residents struggled to feed themselves and their families. We recognized the practical purpose that this surplus food could serve if directed to New Yorkers who needed it, filling the plates of the working mom who had trouble making ends meet at month’s end, the senior in the apartment upstairs living on a fixed income, or the family around the corner coping with a large and unexpected medical bill.

Animal Haven is a nonprofit organization that finds homes for abandoned cats and dogs throughout the Tri-State area and provides behavior intervention when needed to improve chances of adoption.  Founded in 1967, we operate an animal shelter in Manhattan. We also provide programs that enhance the bond between animals and people.

Translators without Borders is a non-profit working towards a world where knowledge knows no language barriers.

Tech Writers Without Borders is a global community of technical communication professionals dedicated to making a difference in the world. We help charities, humanitarian organisations and other non-profits by improving the quality of the documentation and educational resources they use to train and support their staff and volunteers.

New York Cares is the largest volunteer network in NYC offering thousands of volunteer opportunities with nonprofits and schools in all five boroughs.

Rona Tutoring was founded in March by three high schoolers trying to make a difference. Our mission is to bridge the learning gap caused by community disruptions by providing tutors to those whose learning has been affected. We cover any subject from 3rd to 12th grade but we primarily tutor in STEM subjects and English. All for free!

Youth Promise is an organization providing free, virtual tutoring to under-served youth across the globe who during the pandemic aren’t provided with the resources to fulfill their potential. Success is our mission here. With our services, we aim to empower these children through individual tutoring, group classes, and college/test prep workshops taught by our qualified volunteers. The vast majority of Youth Promise tutors are high school and university students, dedicated to making an impact on the world for the better.

We are an organization aiming to connect senior citizens. During this pandemic, it is extremely hard to entertain the elderly and connect them to other people, especially for immigrants. We want to support our seniors and find ways to socially unite them with others through common activities and interests.

Edutine is a free online peer tutoring center where students can receive tutoring in a variety of subjects! It was first launched in April 2020, but due to high demands, we are proud to announce that summer classes are available!

"Digital Volunteers" can now take on important assignments to expand access to the Smithsonian's massive collections, and can participate in a variety of research programs. Some roles require special knowledge or skill, but many do not.

Missing Maps map the most vulnerable places in the developing world, in order that international and local NGOs and individuals can use the maps and data to better respond to crises affecting the areas.

The network of local Girls Inc. nonprofit organizations serves girls ages 6-18 at more than 1,500 sites in 350 cities across the United States and Canada. Our evidence-based programming is delivered by trained professionals who focus on the development of the whole girl, supporting, mentoring, and guiding girls in an affirming, pro-girl environment. Here, girls learn to value their whole selves, discover and develop their inherent strengths, and receive the support they need to navigate the challenges they face.
